Comfortable single-level living with a big fenced yard is just the beginning of what this rambler offers. We’ll get to all the community features, including local beach parks and Steilacoom schools, but let’s stay with the house for a moment. An open living space forms the heart of the home with a fireplace to gather around, granite counters in the kitchen, and sliding doors to the patio from the dining area. At the west end of the home find a spacious private suite with a full bath. When we say spacious, we mean it. You can set up your comfy bed, add a crib and some exercise equipment, and there’s still room to move! Three more bedrooms, a laundry room, and a 2nd full bath complete the east end of the house.

But what the homeowners will miss the most is moving life out to the back yard for barbecues, play time in the fresh air, and relaxing afternoons. They loved it out here so much they built a new wooden fence to replace the old chain link, created a playground, and added a 12x12 shed. On a 9,605 sq ft lot, there’s still room for whatever you have in mind.

A Tacoma address meets Steilacoom community and schools (and it’s about 15 minutes to JBLM too). If you’re anything like the family who’s been calling this house home, you might find yourself 5 minutes down the road in historic Steilacoom almost daily for trips to the beach, to watch the sunset, to meet friends for coffee, or to sit on the rooftop deck at the local pub.

Step up to the covered front entry, shake off your coat, slip out of your shoes, and open the door to this cozy scene: a soft rug, a comfy couch, fire in the hearth, and plenty of light. You’re home. You’re home to this open living space that brings family, friends, housemates, and pets together. Soft colors, recessed lighting, big windows. You might want to brew a cup of tea, curl up, and stay awhile.

Dining

Tacoma Rambler Dining Room.jpg

With a patio just outside the sliding glass doors, this home really almost comes with two dining rooms. Here in the Pacific Northwest, with long summer days, and not too many bugs, we’re serious fans of patio dining. It doesn’t last all year, but it’s lovely while it lasts. But we’re getting ahead of ourselves. We’ll visit the patio and big back yard later. For now, pull up a chair in this dining area. Overhead lights and natural window light keep your meals bright all year round. This dining space is casual and comfortable, but you see how pretty it can be when the table is set. And it’s even better when the people gather around.

This open living area where you find the kitchen, dining, and living room really forms the center and heart of this rambler. But with 4 bedrooms, and a spacious yard, there’s room to spread out, to find quiet corners, and get some personal space as well.

Kitchen

Tacoma Rambler Kitchen with Sliding Glass Door.jpg

Granite slab countertops, matching stainless appliances, a tile backsplash, and vinyl plank flooring form this corner kitchen. But another detail we want to make sure you notice is that undermount sink. Set under the level of the granite countertop, it’s quick and easy to clean up - no gummy grout or edge. And it’s a double sink, which is what all sinks should be for practicality’s sake. Sinks just shouldn’t face a wall without a window unless they absolutely must. It’s punishment for the dishwasher, and that’s not fair. The good news is you can look outside while you rinse dishes here, and there’s a dishwasher to help with the rest.

Primary Suite with Private Full Bath

At the west end of the rambler, find this primary suite with its private full bath. The other 3 bedrooms line the hallway at the east end of the house, so this room feels especially quiet, relaxing, and set-apart. And it’s roomy! Even with a full bedroom set there’s room to move around in here. Bring in a crib, set up an exercise area, add a loveseat. A large closet adds convenience and cuts down on clutter. A full bath completes the suite, and you’ll be glad to know there’s a bathroom for everyone else out in the hall, so this one’s just for you. The vanity with its granite countertop has 2 sinks and good storage in the cupboards and drawers. The tiled shower/tub combo is ready when you want to soak.

3 Additional Bedrooms

Big closets, simple white trim, and soft, calm colors make these good rooms for all kinds of uses. With 4 bedrooms in the house, it’s possible you’ll want to get creative with 1 or 2 of them. These homeowners set up a beautiful child’s room, a peaceful school and craft room, and a spacious home office. Notice the giant closet in the work-from-home office room. Closets are well worth pointing out, as some homes are sadly lacking in closet space. Speaking of closets, there are 2 out in the hallway. So you can hang up coats, store boardgames, or even establish a pantry. We’re sure you’ll think of something.

2nd Full Bath

You’ll find the 2nd full bath in the hallway, just outside the bedrooms, and easily accessible from the living space too. The shower/tub area is nicely tiled all the way to the ceiling with a little window for ventilation, set high enough for plenty of privacy. Good lighting, some storage under the vanity, and easy-to-clean floors complete the room.

Laundry

Tacoma Rambler Laundry Room.jpg

Take the first door on the right when you leave the kitchen and you’ll find this convenient laundry room. No tromping down a scary flight of stairs with a hamper in your arms here. This room is close to whatever else you’re doing so it’s always easy to switch the load. (The washer and dryer don’t convey, but we promise you can keep the room itself.)

Outside

Tacoma+Rambler+Covered+Front+Entrance.jpg

Head out to your own backyard playground when it’s time to run around and get fresh air. The homeowners added a new wooden fence (replacing the old chain link) to this fully fenced back yard for increased privacy and a more solid, finished look. Fresh wood chips fill the playground area, and the homeowners also brought in a 12x12 toolshed to the yard. Stow the lawn mower, bikes, and garden tools in there. With a patio just outside the sliding glass doors, we imagine you’ll be taking dinner outdoors during the warm months. Get set to barbecue, and to move life out back when spring and summer roll around again.

This is a big lot - 9,605 sq ft of level, low maintenance space. Even with a patio, playground, shed, apple tree, and lots of off-street parking, there's plenty of room to spare. Keep it low maintenance, or add raised beds, flower gardens, and landscaping to your heart’s content.

As we mentioned, the paved and gravel driveway offers plenty of off-street parking. There's room for an RV if that's your thing, and space for friends and guests to pull in when they visit.

This home is set just outside Steilacoom, a waterfront town, and the first incorporated town or city in Washington State. Just 4 minutes up the road, Steilacoom is where you’ll find yourself meeting friends for ice cream and picnics at the park. The family calling this rambler home for the past couple of years headed to sandy Sunnyside Beach Park every week in the summer, and can vouch for the sunset views from this west facing waterfront. It’s homey, historic, and scenic too.

10902 107th St SW belongs to the Steilacoom Historic School District, with the closest elementary school, Cherrydale Primary, just 2 minutes away by car.

Steilacoom Lake, Gravelly Lake, and American Lake border the area to the east, with the southern reach of the Salish Sea to the west, so there’s no shortage of water and beaches, salty or fresh. The Lakewood Towne Center mall is 11 minutes away for shopping, groceries, and dining out. Commuting to Downtown Tacoma, Olympia, or Joint Base Lewis-McChord? Take a look at the distance and drive times from the door of 10902 107th St SW. And with a Tacoma address, you’ll get access to free family days at the Point Defiance Zoo & Aquarium. Don’t miss out!

If you enjoy public parks, beaches, trails, golf, boating, and off-leash areas, you’ve come to the right place. Chambers Bay Golf Course, host of the 2015 US Open, is also home to a waterfront park, a 3.25 mile loop trail (with views across the Sound to the Olympic Mountains), a playground, off-leash park, big playfield perfect for frisbee and kite-flying, and the Chambers Bay Grill. Fort Steilacoom Park offers a huge off-leash park, a lake loop trail, playground, and acres of exploring. Sunnyside Beach Park is a local favorite for picnics and beach play with 1,400 feet of shoreline, and you can put a boat in the water at American Lake’s public launch.

Okay, it might not be as exciting as waterfront views, golf courses, and beach parks, but having Sunny’s Market & Deli right up the street comes in really handy. Making dinner and forgot the onions, garlic, or canned tomatoes? Sunny’s is 1 minute away and keeps you from heading out to the larger grocery stores when you forget an ingredient or just really, really need some chips and ice cream. It happens. Now, it’s time to explore.
