Find all the necessities in this simple, compact home in South Tacoma’s Edison Neighborhood. There’s room for one or two to settle in and get cozy. Sit in the living room by the big front window where lots of light streams in from the east, organize your clothes in the walk-in closet with its own lighting, and a little window to the back yard; get settled. The whole interior is freshly painted and there’s new flooring throughout, so bring your favorite rugs for the floor and photos for the walls. The front room and bedroom are carpeted for warmth and comfort while new hardwood-style laminate floors in the kitchen and bathroom are attractive and easy to clean.

The lot is pretty low-maintenance with spacious off-street parking (there’s actually room for an RV), and a detached garage-turned-workshop/storage shed in back. If you’re a gardener, there’s certainly room to grow. As it is, a lawn mower and some pruners will just about do it.

Walk out the door to the Sounder train station, South Park, the library, groceries, and pubs. If you’re driving, you can reach the Tacoma Mall in 4 minutes and Costco in 7 minutes, and there’s easy access to I-5 about 1/2 a mile away.

Living & Dining Room

Step inside from the covered front porch to brand new carpet in the front room with beautiful light coming through its big east facing window. Add light curtains for more privacy, or leave the windows uncovered for morning sunshine. This is a friendly room where you can curl up with a book, watch your favorite shows, or sit and visit with a friend, some iced tea, or maybe even a summer cocktail.

This front room with its new carpet and freshly painted walls offers space for both a living room and a dining area. The ceiling fan keeps the air moving on warm days. Don’t miss the softened corner of the entrance into the kitchen, a small detail, but something that makes a difference no matter which side you’re looking from.

The dining area window faces south, shedding light on the table. Add an area rug beneath the table to keep the carpet fresh and designate the space. There are outlets nearby, so lamps may be added, and the ceiling fan overhead helps light the room too.

Simple, but bright and cozy, this front room can take a book shelf or two, or hold a tv if you have one. The ceiling is smooth and all the new paint makes the room fresh.

Kitchen & Laundry

Don’t forget the window over the sink! You’ve just got to have a kitchen window.

From the living and dining room head into the kitchen with its new laminate floors and the fresh paint found throughout the home. It’s complete with a refrigerator, dishwasher, range, and lots of drawers, so get cooking! Notice the floor to ceiling pantry cupboards at the end of the counter in the image below. You can see the laundry room just beyond the kitchen table where washer and dryer hook-ups are located just beneath those baskets.

A final look at the kitchen where a table for two fits beside the refrigerator with the bedroom just a few steps away. If you’re a midnight snacker, you won’t have to go far to find the goods. You can also see the new vinyl floor in the laundry room and the back door out to the deck. If you head into the laundry room, you'll see the water heater on the left. And since you’ve gotten a preview of the bedroom, go ahead and go in.

The full bathroom is next-door to the bedroom and has new laminate flooring to match the kitchen for nice flow. This bathroom with its tub/shower combo is all set with a clean white tub surround, spacious vanity, and good lighting. As with all the rooms in the house its freshly painted white which means any color scheme you want to bring in with shower curtains, towels, soap dispensers, and all those good things will work nicely.

Head out through the front or back door to enjoy the yard. You could park on the street, and take the paved path up to the front, or there's plenty of parking space in back.

The south side yard is fairly wide and comes around to meet the garage just beyond the shrubbery. The building, originally a single car garage, has 2 man doors, but no longer offers a bay door, so functions as a storage shed or workshop. There is a small landscaping bed under the front window of the home, and some shrubs along the fence and back by the workshop, but generally, this is a low-maintenance yard. If you like to keep it simple and don’t enjoy planting, growing, weeding, and digging in the dirt, you’re all set. However, if you do love those things, there’s nothing to stop you. Think of this yard as a blank slate waiting for your green thumb. Hydrangeas, poppies, lavender, dogwoods, apple trees, vegetable gardens, whatever you can think of you can plant. It’s up to you.

A small deck at the back of the house takes you up into the back door which opens into the laundry room. Set up a chair or two and sit in the fresh air. Add a little table, maybe a potted tomato, a geranium, and bring out the lemonade; it’s summer!

These final two images offer side views of the house and also share an idea of the surrounding homes in this South Tacoma neighborhood. In the image on the left you can see along the south side of the house out to the storage building and toward the alley. The side yard to the north is narrower, but still offers a clear path around the side to the back yard of this is classic, compact Tacoma home.
